Dear Friends of CARY,
Council on At-Risk Youth students need your continued support. Your support of CARY helps empower at-risk youth with the skills to avoid violence and crime. What’s best, the CARY program works!
“We can invest in our youth today, or pay much more later.” –Former Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo
How do we know it works? For over 17 years, CARY has worked with more than 8,000 of our communities’ most vulnerable students. These youth receive social skills, empathy, and communication training through PeaceRox- a two-semester long Aggression Replacement Training program. Students in the program have better attendance, higher grades, and far fewer serious disciplinary referrals in school.
2016 saw several significant successes. CARY was privileged to introduce PeaceRox to Manor and Del Valle Independent School Districts. That’s 300 more local students whose probability of success just got a big boost. CARY also partnered with the Austin Police Department to serve 850 students in the Rundberg area, and piloted the first-ever CARY summer camp for 75 youth and their families.
“Without CARY I would be in jail or worse. I learned how to control my anger and make choices that will help me for the rest of my life.” –Miguel, age 12, CARY client
You are a key reason CARY has been able to do this work for struggling kids.
As the holiday season approaches, I’m writing to ask for your continued support in achieving CARY’s vision: Safe Schools and Communities, Free of Crime and Violence. Please give to our Annual Fund Drive. With your help, CARY participants will continue to receive transformative services with results that benefit families, schools, and the Austin community.
Your contribution has a direct impact on the thousands of kids who need CARY. No gift is too small. Here are some other ways you can help CARY:
- Like and Share our Facebook page.
- Shop at smile.amazon.com and add CARY as your organization; .5% of your purchases goes directly to CARY programming.
- Follow us on Twitter.
We’ll keep you informed on the latest news and progress metrics. You will be amazed and inspired to see your gift changing the lives of young people. Please rise up and speak, however you can, on behalf of at-risk youth in Central Texas.
Happy Holidays, and thank you very much for your continued support of CARY.
